Leader In Me

What is the Leader in Me?

The Leader in Me is Franklin Covey’s whole school process. It teaches 21st century  life skills to students and empowers students with the idea that every child can be a leader. The goal  of P.S. 14 is to support all students  by  creating a learning environment which EMPOWERS students in order for them to BECOME lifelong learners and responsible world citizens.

Our students are proactive and take the lead

Grade assemblies - Each Friday grades take turns attending a Leader in Me Assembly. This year we have learned and practiced Habit 1- Be Proactive, Habit 2- Begin with the End in Mind, Habit 3- Put First Things First, Habit 4- Think Win-Win, and Habit 6- Synergize!

Student Lighthouse Team - 4th and 5th grade students had the opportunity to volunteer as a class representative for the team. Students practice Habit 8- Find Your Voice. They have organized school-wide fundraisers and made decisions about how to use the money raised. They have already donated funds to the school food pantry and purchased recess materials!

Action Teams - All staff members meet regularly to practice Habit 6- Synergize. Some work in teams to plan curriculum and some beautify the school inside and out.

Student Leaders - Students had the option to volunteer their time as a class helper. After eating their lunch, they head to classrooms to assist teachers and other students in various ways. The Nurse has also recruited monitors to assist in the medical office too!
